Mike is an award winning scriptwriter, director and producer. Specialising in theatre-in-education for over twenty years, Mike is instrumental in creating performances that are engaging, emotional and memorable.
After graduating in 1994, Mike toured as a professional actor on a variety of theatre-in-education projects as well as appearing on stage and television. A passion for using theatre to improve learning and understanding led Mike to work for CragRats as a scriptwriter, director and producer. As Creative Manager Mike worked with numerous partners including the Department for Education, the NHS, the British Army, Road Safety Partnerships, Fire and Rescue Services, Yorkshire Water, Cadbury, British Telecommunications, ASDA and B&Q.
Mike and Simon set up Performance in Education in 2009 to continue helping young people stay safe, manage risk and make informed decisions to benefit their lives.
Simon graduated from Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds, in 1998 with a BA Hons in Dramatic Arts. After graduating he worked as a TiE actor for a number of years delivering performances and workshops on a variety of issues that PiE still tackle today.
Due to his enjoyment of working with young people he took a full time position at Shotton Hall school as an actor in residence. During his years in role he delivered drama to both primary and secondary school students and helped the school to achieve Arts Mark Gold status.
This led to him training to become a Drama and English teacher at Sunderland University. As a qualified teacher Simon taught year 7 - 13 and had responsibility for delivering PSHE curriculum.
Simon left teaching to return to CragRats as the Education Manager. Here he worked with the creative team, headed by Mike Ingham, as market leaders on a wide variety of projects including Road Safety, Youth Arson, Substance Misuse, Enterprise, Raising Achievement and Aimhigher.
When CragRats went into administration in 2009 Simon and Mike started Performance in Education to continue their award winning partnership. They continue to deliver high quality Theatre in Education and improve their offering to clients, schools and students year on year.
