Teenage Pregnancy
National statistics highlight a decline in teenage pregnancies; however the UK still has the highest percentage of teenage pregnancies in Western Europe. The ability for young people to make informed decisions about their sexual health is still a critical element of the DfE Every Child Matters strategy.
Performance in Education specialises in addressing behaviours, attitudes and perceptions. By increasing levels of personal responsibility for boys as well as girls students are encouraged to recognise the role they play in caring for their own health.
Through our honest and up-to-date teenage pregnancy education project, students will:
be aware of the dangers and risks of unprotected sex
be aware of how alcohol impairs decision making
understand the effects of under-age drinking on health and lifestyle
be able to make informed choices and understand the consequences of having unprotected sex
be able to recognise peer pressure and employ skills to avoid being influenced by peer pressure
understand the importance of taking responsibility for their own actions
be informed of sources of help and advice
This project is designed for Key Stage 3 and links directly with National Curriculum aims and guidelines for PSHEE: Personal Wellbeing and Citizenship.
